Are you using AutoCAD 2006, AutoCAD LT2006 or any 2006 version of Autodesk software?

Customisation

This service is particularly useful to experienced users who do not require any further formal training but want to get more out of the program.

I can either show you how to customise the software or I can do it for you and it would include creating custom tool palettes, pull down menus, toolbars, icons and other short cuts to automate tasks that normally require several commands.

There is no real limit to what you can achieve, especially if you involve Autolisp routines to create commands that do not normally exist in AutoCAD.

Cad Standards

AutoCAD is a general drafting program and can be used in a number of different ways. If you were to ask six different people how best to do something they will give you six different answers!

There are certain things that can and should be standardised such as layers, text styles, dimension styles, plot styles and layout settings.

I have been involved with several other companies in the setting up of in-house standards and the production of a Cad users manual giving guidance to anybody using AutoCAD.

In each case I advised them on what features of AutoCAD should be considered for standardisation, how simple customisation of the software can be very effective in this situation and how best to implement any standards that have been agreed.

I feel that there are several benefits I can bring to this type of service including: -

  • The experience I have built up using AutoCAD over 21 years.

  • As an outsider looking in to the way your company works I may notice something that needs addressing that in-house staff may not.

  • Passing on tips that I have picked up from working with other companies in a similar industry sector to your company.

The only problem can be agreeing what the ideal standard should be and a little compromise may be called for here. The way I set the systems up would be based upon an agreed standard whilst still allowing each user to retain their own individuality.

Consultancy & Support

As I do not sell hardware or software I can offer impartial advice on the various Autodesk products and add-on software for a particular drafting discipline.

This way you know that your investment will be exactly right for you and you will not be buying anything you do not need.

This service is particularly useful for companies venturing into Cad for the first time who want a clear guide as to what is available and is suitable for their needs.

As an experienced user of AutoCAD who has seen it develop over a 21 year period, I have extensive knowledge of the history of the software and can provide support to users when all other lines of help have been exhausted.

The documentation that is supplied with the software or the on-line help pages may not provide the explanation but I may well have the answer having experienced a similar problem myself.

I can even call upon a database of hundreds of existing users from whom I have built up a useful array of solutions to particular queries.
