Cad Standards

AutoCAD Drafting StandardsThis service is aimed at existing users of the software or Cad managers and could apply to the full blown package or the cut down equivalent – AutoCAD LT. You will be shown how to set up, implement and maintain Cad standards in AutoCAD.

A good working knowledge of using AutoCAD to perform a variety of tasks such as working with layers, text, dimensions & blocks would be required.

Drawing Organisation:

Setting up a layering standard.
Using layer groups to help manage your layers. 
Ensuring metric linetypes and hatch patterns are used. 
Loading linetypes and setting colours globally and possibly per viewport.

Annotating Drawings:

Creating text styles.
Understanding the importance of avoiding the standard text style. 
Deciding upon whether to use annotative scaling or traditional text height setting. 
Creating table styles.

Dimensioning:

Creating dimension styles and understanding the tree hierarchy for sub styles.
Deciding upon whether to use annotative scaling or traditional dimension scaling. 
Creating multileader styles for tagging parts with text and labels.

Working with Reusable Content:

Setting up libraries of blocks and the discipline involved e.g. layer 0. 
Working with the design centre to gain access to existing items. 
Creating tool palettes and tool palette groups. 
Setting tool palette properties. 
Exporting and sharing tool palettes.

Customisation:

Creating custom tool bars, palletes & ribbon tabs to streamline the screen layout. 
Create task based workspaces to switch easily from one set of tools to another.

Layouts and Plotting:

Setting up layouts. 
Using and saving page setups. 
Setting up Viewports. 
Storing layouts and page setups to re-use. 
Creating plot style tables – ctb or stb?

Template File Creation:

Creating drawing template file(s). 
Setting default options and system variables. 
Making them readily available to all users.

Using your Network:

Sharing your newly created cad standards. 
Maintaining and updating the standards.
