I would assess the use of
AutoCAD within your organisation with the aim of advising you of features of the software that you are currently under utilising or never knew existed which will
in turn lead to an increase in productivity. It also frustrating to see drawings with basic errors in
their composition that cause all sorts of problems and could be
easily avoided.
The following is a list of topics
for consideration that will hopefully provide food for thought and spark debate
as to whether you are carrying out day to day tasks in the most efficient
manner.
How to:
Send
drawings electronically using the correct method.
Batch plot
your drawings.
Avoid the
mtext window filling the screen.
Automatically
scale text and dimension sizes.
Setting
linetype scale in model space and paper space easily.
Setting up
blocks so they can have any layer, colour, linetype and lineweight.
Use tool
palettes to store lines, text settings etc. for consistent re-use.
The
ability to store many variations in a single block reference.
Storing
and pre-defining properties for blocks and other objects.
Manage
large numbers of layers effortlessly.
Allow
items to be printed with different lineweights at different scales.
Solve:
Hatch
pattern scaling problems.
Why you
sometimes can’t delete a layer.
A$C1234
block names - what are they and how do you avoid them.
Why you
should be wary of or avoid altogether:
Choosing
different fonts from the drop down list in mtext.
Increasing
dim variable sizes.
Overriding
bylayer with individual colours.
Using copy
and paste.
Using the
standard text style.
